Foodie Penpals

Today I was reading Kelly's post about the Foodie Penpals program. I thought it sounded like it would be fun to try! So I signed up. The program is facilitated by Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean.  I'd encourage you to look around on her page and read some of the other things she has posted. She has a great blog and I'm glad I ran across it!!

The program is designed so that participants can interact with one another and receive samplings of foods, typically from the sender's area. I thought it would be really cool to try some things that are unique to various areas.  The program is open to bloggers as well as blog readers. At the end of the month (she calls it "reveal day") you write a post about what you received and your experience. If a reader is paired with a blogger, the reader would write a guest post for the blogger's blog. So if you were matched with me, you'd write about your experience and goodies, e-mail it to me, and I'd post it along with my post for the month. If two readers are paired together, then neither would have to write anything.

The "cost" is $15 a month which is what you spend on food directly, plus shipping for your package.
There's no fee for participating. You can buy whatever you'd like to put in your package and include a hand written note, and send it off - that's it! Matches are assigned on the 5th of the month and you must send your package by the 15th of the month. I believe you fill out the form on a monthly basis, so if you want to do it only certain months, you can. You're not obligated to participate forever or anything like that.  There are some guidelines for the program listed on the page.

I just wanted to share some basic information and the general idea of how the program works. If it sounds like something you'd be interested in, please go visit Lindsay's blog to learn more!! I'm excited to try this - so excited that I wish I could start now!! I already have some ideas about what I will include in my package. Luckily I live in a touristy area and we have all kinds of various things to send!

Let me know if you sign up - I'm interested to hear who else may enjoy this!!
